If I've previously been employed by first direct or HSBC can I apply again?
It's always great to hear people want to come back to the first direct/HSBC family. Whether you can apply again depends on your reason for leaving so why not give us a call to discuss in more detail.
When will I find out if I've been successful for a role at first direct?
We'll let you know as soon as we possibly can. But definitely within three working days of your interview.
Will I be able to get feedback on my interview?
Absolutely. Give us a call to arrange your feedback.
Why do I have to do a call simulation?
The call simulation is an opportunity for you to put your skills into action and see whether the job is something you'd enjoy and be good at. We'll explain everything to you when you attend as we want you to succeed. Look at it as a chance to show off your customer service abilities.
How long will the recruitment event last for?
Typically you could be with us for up to 3 hours but we'll try and get through it as quickly as possible. What's important is that you have enough time to get a full flavour of the role and a chance to show us what you're capable of. Times will differ between Leeds and Hamilton.
What if I fail my credit check?
Unfortunately that means we won't be able to offer you a job at this moment in time. That's not to say we won't be able to offer you one in the future though, once you've sorted it all out.
I have an unspent criminal conviction, does this mean I won't be able to apply for a job at first direct?
Not necessarily. It depends on the conviction. It's best to be open and honest with us at interview and tell us about any unspent convictions, as a criminal record check is required if you are successful at interview.
I have gaps in my employment history - will this affect my application?
We require a full five-year history before you can join us, so we'll work with you to find alternative ways to provide any missing information.
